Spring Hair Trends with Hair Cuttery: Video + BTS shots of Me Modeling

I'm SO beyond excited to share the first of many hair vids to come!  I don't know if you guys remember, but a while back, I modeled for Hair Cuttery and posted all about it on instastories. Anywho, I wanted to tease you all so I didn't share much, but I'm going to make up for it today by posting ALL the behind-the-shots pics I have! My lovely stylist did my hair up four different ways! For look 1, she gave me beautiful loose waves - you can see the full tutorial below.

For look 2, she gave me a bamf braid!  This was the most time consuming style, but the end result was all kinds of awesome.  I don't usually do my hair up fancy, but I think I'm going to put more effort into my mane from here on out because a stylish hairstyle elevates one's look like nobody's business.
Moving onto look number 3: a fabulous high pony.  A huge thanks to my stylist for helping me channel my inner Beyonce!  Who knew a simple pony could be so damn glamorous? I also loved that she used a section of my hair to hide the hair tie she used.
Andddd last but not least, the topknot.  Perfect for hot days or whenever you want to keep your hair out of your face.  Complements any and every ensemble - sport it with a sexy dress for a fun night out with friends or a casual tee & jeans combo for an effortlessly fashionable everyday look.
Which 'do are you guys loving most?  Do you prefer to wear your hair up or down? And a HUGE thanks to Hair Cuttery for the fun collaboration.  Make sure you guys subscribe to their youtube channel to see more hair vids! They share so much great content on their social media platforms so you should def. follow along:  instagram, facebook, and twitter.

Best Burgers in the DMV: Red Apron Butcher FTW

If you haven't tried Red Apron Burger Bar yet, you're missing out for reals.  I've had some amazing burgers in my lifetime, but nothing's come close to the deliciousness of their grub.  I got to try several different noms there, and everything was on point.  Their location was cute and clean, but it had the vibe of a fast-food restaurant, which was totally fine with me, BUT I wanted to let you guys know!
Anywho, let's start with the Standard.  The bf and I ordered the double patty with white american cheese, pickles, shaved onion, and their special sauce.  Oh, and before I go on with my post, I want to tell you guys about their beef offerings.  They support sustainable VA family farms (which is all kinds of awesomesauce) and sell two kinds:  black angus and ancient white park.  You can't go wrong with either so just toss a coin and get whatever.

BF and I also ordered a side of beef fat fries because you can't eat a burger without fries - it'd make zero sense, ha.  Andddd like everything here, these were freaking delicious.  Seasoned with roasted garlic and rosemary, they were obscene, and I mean that in the best way possible!  Definitely order a side of these when you come here.  I usually drown my fries in ketchup, but I passed because they were so yum without.
Onto the next sandwich: the Yardbird ($8.35), made with yogurt marinated chicken, pickles, whipped feta, harissa mayo, and lettuce.  This was by far my favorite!  The flavors were on POINT, and the chicken was hella moist.  I still have dreams about this baby!  I can't wait to go back and get this again.  I never knew a chicken sandwich could taste go freakin' good!
BF loved both of the aforementioned yums, but his favorite was the El Jefe ($8.75) pictured below. Made with a chorizo patty, smoked chimichurri, avocado, pickled red onion, and sour cream, he loved how tender and flavorful it all tasted.  I tried a bit myself and really enjoyed it - I would've had more, but I was already stuffed so I let him devour it.
God, DC is killing my diet.  How am I supposed to eat clean when there's all this amazing food? Sigh, I guess that just means I have to work out extra hard!  Oh, and I almost forgot to tell you guys, if you want to skip the bun, Red Apron can serve their noms on a bed of lettuce instead, AND they have a veg. option as well, which I'm dying to try.  They also sell wines + nomtastic cocktails in addition to soft serve if you're craving something sweet!  Happy eating, everyone.

A huge thanks to Red Apron Burger Bar for hosting us!

How I Do Athleisure

Oh how I love athleisure.  I purchased these pants YEARS ago at Kohl's and love the fact that they're still in style.  I paired them with a fab lace-up crop from Amicubwear and threw on my fave white sneakers to top things off.  Yay for comfortable outfits that ooze steeze!
This top's sold out, but here are fab alternatives all under $50:

How do you guys feel about track pants - are they hot or not? If you're a fan of 'em, how do you wear them on the daily?

Recap: Exploring Geppi's Entertainment Museum, Maiwand Kabob Takeout, and Scary @$$ Movies on Netflix

Hey guys!  Today, I'll be sharing shots from my latest adventure - my bf and I recently visited Geppi's Entertainment Museum in Baltimore, MD and had a BLAST!  We both love to check out new museums on the regular so we had a ton of fun exploring.  Their joint's a chronological timeline of American pop culture - yes, it's as awesome as it sounds - and it all begins with a "museum within a museum" aka their first exhibit, "A Story in Four Colors."  It showcases the colorful history of the comic book, starting with the debut of Superman to the most recent adventures of Buffy.
There are nine rooms total so you'll spend a good amount of time here.  Everything's really well done, and the space is super cool.  8 of the 9 galleries here are permanent, but their "special edition" exhibit changes from time to time so I suggest hauling @$$ to see their current setup.  Hint:  it showcases the evolution of a certain superhero from Gotham City (!!!)
The final exhibit's basically a gift shop.  They have everything from cool figurines and comic books to old-school toys.  I didn't buy anything because I'm trying to save moolah, but I was definitely tempted.  Man, it was such a throwback - I felt so nostalgic walking down memory lane! Time flies by too damn quickly.  Oh shoot, I almost forgot to mention ticket prices!  It costs $10 per person - $7 if you're a student (ages 5-18) + free admission for kids 4 and under - and is open Tuesday through Sunday from 10 to 6.
Anywho, after wrapping up at Geppi's, we wanted to hit up Ripley's as well, but we quickly gave up on that idea because it was rush hour, and traffic was a biyatch.  We were pretty hungry at that point though so we grabbed Maiwand Kabob to go.
They have several locations in the MD area, and their Hanover location happens to (very conveniently) be close to my crib.  I'm a regular there because I can't get enough of their chicken platter.  Their meat's always ridiculously juicy, and their signature dipping sauce (cilantro yogurt) is delicious.  All their entrees are served with tandoori bread, rice, and salad, but I always ask for spinach instead of salad - sauteed with onions, garlic, salt, and black pepper, it tastes just like Indian saag.  The bread's made fresh so it's all sorts of yum - it comes out piping hot and is just the right amount of chewy.

I don't usually get apps here, but I decided to order a pumpkin starter since the bf was visiting.  I had read rave reviews about this dish on Yelp so I was stoked to try it, andddd it didn't disappointed.  It featured pan-fried then baked baby pumpkin seasoned with sugar, served with yogurt and topped with ground beef sauce.  The combo of flavors = hellllla good!  I'd definitely get this again...if I was splurging, ha.
We usually watch Family Guy when eating meals, but we decided to bingewatch Netflix instead. We're both super busy so we don't usually have time to sit around and watch TV, but hey, you gotta treat yoself every once in a while!  We ended up watching "It Follows" and "Dream House."  The latter starred Daniel Craig, and had a pretty cool twist at the end, but it wasn't anything to write home about.

"It Follows," on the other hand, was scary as hell.  The blurb sounded lame so I didn't want to watch it, but the bf insisted because it got amazing ratings on NF & an extremely high score on Rotten Tomatoes.  Well, I'm glad I gave it a shot because it's hands down, one of the best horror films I've ever seen!  I don't want to spoil anything for you guys so I'm going to stop talking, but it's a must-see for real.  Anywho, have you guys explored any cool museums as of late? Anddd who here's a horror buff?

Another $9.99 Zara Find: Bargain Shopping FTW

Wearing all new swag today on SS!  I centered my latest around my fab new dress from Zara - I purchased this a few weeks ago for $9.99 during an online blowout sale, and it's a do for so many reasons.  Firstly, the material feels like butter on my skin, and secondly, the mock-neck + side slit ooze sexy.
It was nippy out so I threw on my fave bomber for warmth before accessorizing with a giant pearl statement necklace and strappy sandals courtesy of Guilty Soles.  These fabulous block heels are made of vegan suede and are available in 2 other colors:  brown and tan.  If you're a fan of fringe, you'll absolutely love these - dress them up for a fun night out with friends or wear them casually like I did here.
Now let's take a closer look at my necklace from J Wholesale.  They carry a ton of fabulous pearl pieces online - I highly recommend purchasing their pearl strands.  I like the gold designs best because they look pretty real!  I'll be featuring them on here soon so stay tuned.

My Current Fave Work Dress from Laila Jayde

Twirling around in my current favorite work dress.  This fabulous striped number from Laila Jayde is on point for a number of reasons.  It's SUPER comfortable (which is obviously the most important) and works for pretty much any and every occasion.  I've worn it casually with white sneakers for errands and dressed it up with heels + statement jewelry for work below.
Let's take a closer look at my new necklace from J Wholesale.  If you're a fan of mixed metals, you'll fall head over heels in love with this piece.  Try wearing it with a graphic tee + jeans for a bamf casual ensemble!
Oh, and I don't know if you guys remember, but a while back, I posted about this bag - the blast was called, "The Newest Edition to my Bag Collection: The Falabella Mini" in case you missed it.  FYI, Stella McCartney doesn't use any leather or fur in her collections, and she's all about sustainability which is all kinds of awesomesauce.

Bring on the Warm Weather: My New Netted Maxi

Beyond stoked to share today's post with you guys because it's the first of several collabs that I did with the fabulous Hana Gonzalez Fernandini.  We met up at the National Portrait Gallery in DC last weekend to shoot and had a blast - we got a lot of really great shots so make sure you all stay tuned. A huge thanks to the bf for being such a wonderful assistant - his patience never ceases to astound, ha!
Anywho, I'm all about Chaser for my latest.  I've been a HUGE fan of them for quite a while now so it's always fun when we partner up.  Their clothing oozes steeze so I feel effortlessly fashionable wearing their garb. I mean, this maxi dress is seriously one of my faves, I just wish it was a tad bit smaller and shorter!  I screwed up and ordered a medium for some bizarre reason, don't ask me why - definitely pick one up for yourself in your REGULAR size, ha.

Dresses are the best - I seriously live in them during the summer!  I love warm weather because I can just throw a mini on, pair it with neutral wedges, grab my bag, and run out the door in 10 minutes tops.  I'm definitely going to be packing a bunch for my trip to Phoenix!  I'm flying out Sunday so I'm super excited!  The itinerary's BOMB - think hot air ballooning, nomtastic eats, olive oil tastings, etc. - and I'm meeting up with two of my faves (La Belle Mel and Queen Horsfall) so make sure you follow along on instastories.

My First Mukbang with LaBelleMel: Crazy Nuclear Noodle Challenge

Oh man, today's blast is a doozy because I'll be sharing my first official mukbang (...attempt) with you guys.  My blogger bestie (aka La Belle Mel) convinced me to tackle the spicy noodle nuclear fire challenge, anddddd it was intense.  Now, I can handle heat but damn, Mel takes it to a whole 'nother level.  I don't know ANYONE that can outspice me so big ups to her for schooling me in this challenge - see her tackle the first spicy noodle challenge HERE.  Oh, and make sure you guys say hi to the adorable Dexter here on instagram.

Anywho, I eat Korean bul myun on the regular on splurge days for funsies because they make me sweat and are hella delish, but the nuclear version I'm eating below = pretty ridic.  They're TWICE as spicy as the originals so I suffered, and that's putting it nicely.  I'm not even going to try and deny it - I was totally sweating during this entire video. Mel kept asking me questions throughout, and I remember thinking, "oh my god, how are you even talking right now?" I was busy trying not to die, ha!  Well, I hope you guys enjoy this, and I recently bought a new camera, a Canon EOS M10, so I'll be sharing lots more video stuffs from here on out!  Let me know if you have any requests.

The $15 Cutout Dress that Slays

Alright everyone, I don't know if you remember, but I featured this fab dress as a find of the day here a while back on SS!  I'm stoked to finally style it for you guys.  I dressed it down with my fave OTK boots and Chanel boy bag for a laid-back vibe.  Cute dresses are the best because they're ridiculously comfortable and easy to style.  If I'm ever in a rush or feel lazy, boots + dresses are my go-to!  Sub out boots for gladiator sandals for Spring & Summer.  What's your lazy day uniform?
Other fab cutout dresses that'll impress (all under $50):
