SS x Visionworks: From Runway to Reality

In honor of NYFW, I've partnered up with Visionworks for my latest post.  They sent me three fabulous frames to style (from Diane von Furstenberg, Calvin Klein, and BCBG), and I'll be basing my looks off of their Spring/Summer runway shows!  Now, why runway to reality?  As much as I adore ensembles hot off the runway, I'm an everyday girl so it's my goal to share what I think is cute AND wearable on a day to day basis.

Before I dive into my outfits, we're gonna touch on eyewear trends.  Spring/Summer 2017's gonna be all about exotic glamour, tropical iridescents, and floral tones.  You guys will see a ton of deep & rich tones that give a lush quality for early summer - teal, pomegranate and cobalt blue round out a wandering wardrobe, while silver metals are key in both men's and women's accessories.  Saturated tones will mirror tropical destinations.

When planning for your summer getaway, consider slate, sand, amethyst and ceramic blues.  Liquid-looking finishes and iridescent plastics are updated with pearly synthetics in pastels and shell tones to add a lustrous shimmer to plastic accessories.  Last but not least, the classic petal print is modernized with shades of turquoise and pomegranate. Opaque colored acetate is used to confirm bold accessories, and sheen emphasis + layered acetate evoke a retro feel.  Which trend are you guys feelin' the most?

Alright guys, without further ado let's tackle look no. 1:  DVF
I've always been a huge fan of DVF!  Her Spring/Summer 2017 line was so on point.  In fact, so much so that I had a rough time figuring out which looks to share, but I settled on the ones above. As you can see, she's all about fabulous prints!  Here's my take on her flowy, goddess-like garb.
I centered my look around a comfortable but stylish printed mini-dress and paired it with an oversized cardigan to cover my shoulders - hey, it's hot, but AC can be brutal indoors.  I carried my new Madewell tote - it's seriously big enough to carry my life - and threw on snakeskin sandals to add personality!  To finish off my look, I wore fabulous DVF frames to match.
Next up, BCBG...
I pretty much love everything they design, and by "pretty much love," I mean, "shamelessly obsess over," ha.  For this look, I went with the color scheme pictured on the top right.  To me, a BCBG girl is effortlessly fashionable so I decided to style a casual but comfortable look with trendy touches.  I started with my favorite faux-leather skirt and paired it with a cool cutout knit.  I accessorized with a BAMF statement necklace and incorporated a pop of color with my pomegranate frames
My third and final look:  CK all the way, baby!
Calvin Klein's Spring/Summer 2017 line oozes sophistication and polish!  Therefore, I styled a classic menswear-inspired look for y'all.  I started with a simple ruffled tank and paired it with high-waisted pants.  I threw on a pinstripe vest and carried an animal print tote to elevate my look, and to finish things off, I accessorized with CK frames.
Alright guys, that's a wrap!  Which look did you like the best?  Oh, and which glasses were your faves? I love them all, but I think I'm leaning towards the CK frames.  Anywho, If you're looking for new glasses, head on over to Visionworks STAT.  Their products are super accessible - you can purchase 'em online, pick them up in person or select delivery to any destination nationwide.  There are 2k+ frames available online so I can pretty much guarantee you'll find a design you love.

SS Eats: Founding Farmers

Alright guys, it's time for another food post on SS!  It was recently a close friend's birthday, so I treated him to a nomtastic meal at one of my favorite restaurants in the DMV:  Founding Farmers.  If you live here and haven't gone yet, you're seriously missing out!  Like, you should get in your car right now, and drive there immediately.

There are three different locations here, but we went to the one in MoCo (Montgomery County, MD). We were starving so we decided to order a few starters:  fried green tomatoes ($8) and skillet corn bread ($5).  I can't even begin to tell you guys how delish they both were.  The tomatoes came out perfectly - they were crispy and piping hot with two dipping sauces.  I don't know what they were exactly, but I think one was a goat cheese concoction? Anywho, they were both good, and that's all you need to know, ha.
The corn bread was straight up ridiculous.  It was honestly the best corn bread I've ever had, like, in my entire life. The texture was heavenly - the inside was moist and the crust was baked to perfection. I usually hate buying bread at restaurants, but I would buy this sh*t in bulk, ha.  I can't wait to go back and try the table biscuits.  I have a feeling they'll blow my mind!  What can I say? I love my carbs!
For entrees, we got two dishes and shared.  My friend told me that their fried chicken was really good so we got an order of Chicken & Waffles ($16) and - since I'm a sucker for pasta - Sausage Mushroom Gnocchi ($17).
The chicken dish came with mac & cheese + green beans.  It looked aesthetically pleasing (the photo doesn't do it justice), but I wasn't that impressed overall.  The chicken needed more flavor and the sides were too salty for my taste. In my opinion, the waffles were the highlight of the dish!
Their gnocchi was on point though. Everything was perfectly cooked, and the flavors were divine - each bite seriously felt like a party in my mouth.  The pasta had the most delightful texture, and they really went all out with the sausage and mushrooms.  They don't mess around here at FF!  You get your money's worth for sure.
Now, a few tidbits you guys should all know - Wifi + parking's free (they have a huge lot for your convenience), there offer a ton of delish vegetarian options (omg try the mushroom swiss reuben), and they make their own sodas (!!!!).  So head on over STAT and let me know what you think of their noms.  Happy eating, frands!

Tearing Up Bethesda Row

Alright guys, I'm super excited to share today's post with y'all because my blogger bestie, Melanie Yu from La Belle Mel, snapped it for me!  We met up in Bethesda Row to get our brunch on and shoot - yay for fun photo shoots and delish noms.  BTW, if you're not following her yet, you need to STAT because she's seriously amazing at everything she does - photography, food, beauty, hair, fashion, you name it!  I literally could go on and on.

The story of how I met her is actually pretty funny.  I was teaching piano at a school called ISM, and she enrolled and was placed with me for lessons!  Small world, right?  Suffice it to say, I'm beyond glad we met because we click so well.
Anywho, I'll stop gushing and move onto today's OOTD!  I picked this dress up online at ModCloth a while back - unfortunately, it's no longer in stock, but I've linked similar options for you guys below. I styled the piece with a lightweight cardi + wedges (courtesy of SUSI) to match.  To stay true to my simple 3-color scheme, I carried my vintage crossbody satchel, which just so happens to conveniently match my tassel detailing.
