The Mustard Dress

Happy hump day, guys!  I hope you all are having a great week thus far.  I always get really excited for Wednesdays because I like sharing office-friendly looks!  I know, I'm a dork, ha.  For today's post, I centered my ensemble around my new sleeveless dress from AMICLUBWEAR.  I really like the color!  I definitely need more rust-colored pieces in my life.  I styled the dress with my favorite open-front cardigan to keep things "conservative" and threw on layered pearls for a classy, polished look.  As you all know, accessories can make or break an ensemble.    In this particular case, my necklace adds sophistication - pearls ooze elegance.
Let's take a look at my new bag and heels. If you work in a very formal office, these shoes definitely won't cut it!  You'd have to wear nude heels for sure.  Luckily, I'm a concert pianist and teacher by day so my "uniform's" casual to business-casual for the most part.  I say "for the most part" because I wear formal gowns for recitals.  I purchased these gorgeous heels at Ann Taylor for $35.  A total bargain because they were originally $138.  Lucky for you guys, these shoes are available HERE for the same price - FYI, the extra 50% is taken off at checkout.  I really can't recommend them enough!  They're stunning AND comfortable.

Moving on, I absolutely adore my new Burberry bag! I got it on sale at Bluefly not too long ago.  It's pricy but totally worth it in my opinion.  Due to the neutral color and classic shape, it'll stay in style for years to come, and I know I'll get my money's worth.  Remember, it's all about cost-per-wear!  Read about it in my recent post, "4 Bags Every Girl Must Own."  I talk all about the importance of an investment bag there so make sure you guys check it out!

The Floral Dress

Le sigh.  There's nothing I love more than a gorgeous floral dress!  In this freakin' heat, dresses and skirts are a godsend.  I guess that doesn't really mean much to you guys though because I'm ALWAYS about dresses and skirts, ha.  It's just SO easy to look fashionable at work while wearing a printed dress.  This beautiful piece makes a bold statement all own its own - that's why I went easy on the jewelry.  I didn't want to look like a disco ball at the office, ha.  It all depends on your work vibe though.  Be smart with your judgement.  If you work in the fashion world, it's obviously ok for you to sport mad bling + cray prints, but if you're an investment banker at Wallstreet... you may need to save it for the weekend.

Since I don't have a dress link for you guys, I took the liberty of creating a widget for your viewing pleasure.  Here are a few of my fave floral dresses:
Like I said, I kept things pretty tame today.  I accessorized with my new pearl earrings courtesy of The Peach Box.  Available for $34 HERE, these studs are beyond chic!  Smaller front-feature pearls are set within an 18K gold-plated design that slip into larger pearl backings, but you can wear these however you want obviously!

I matched my heels + tote, too!  A big everyday bag is a must.  I swear, I'm like an Asian Mary Poppins.  You need something? I can pretty much guarantee I have it in my bag, ha.  Whatever. That's why I have BIG shoulder muscles, ha.  Again, since I don't have a bag link for you guys, here are other faves of mine!  Don't you just love how helpful I am, hardy har har!

Transitioning from Work to Play

Happy Monday, everyone.  I hope y'all had an AMAZING weekend!  To start off the week with a bang, I styled a FAB shift dress for you guys.  This gorg piece is from *drum roll, please* Almost Famous Clothing, DUH!  You all know how much I love their stuffs.  Anywho, this printed dress is absolutely PERFECT for work in the summer because it's loose - it helps me cope with the sweltering heat.  I don't know about you guys, but I feel like I'm melting every time I step outside, ha!  The weather has been 90+ degrees & humid.   UGH!

...I'm gonna stop complaining because I sound like a total downer right now, ha.  So, let's talk fashion.  Today's topic of choice = transitioning from work to play with ease.  Here's how you go from office-appropriate to hella sexy in seconds:

1.  Wear a chic dress to work.  It can be a printed number like I'm wearing below, a S(orta)LBD, or whatevs.  It's totally up to you!
2a.  Keep a pair of fierce heels + an evening bag in your car/drawer because you think ahead like a total BAMF.
2b.  Trade in your everyday tote and kitten heels for the aforementioned sexy ass heels + fab clutch.
3.  BAM! You're good to go.

...annnnd I really didn't need make a list, but that's ok, ha!  This isn't a must by any means, but I also recommend keeping some spare jewelry in your desk.  Accessories are magical.  They'll take you from "good" to "damnnnnnn."  Yeah, I'm all sorts of eloquent today! *grins*
Speaking of jewelry, let's take a closer look at my swag courtesy of Lavisha.  Talk about affordable luxury - both pieces are seriously on point!  My necklace is made with dazzling Swarovski crystals and is finely handcrafted with authentic 925 sterling silver.  It's on sale HERE for $29.99!  My earrings are silver + magenta cubic zirconia - available here for $51.99 (originally $85.99) - and they're approximately 1.5" long.  They look amazing for casual AND formal looks alike!  FYI: they offer free shipping + returns, and their packaging in impeccable! #TreatYourself

Quality comparable to:  BCBGMax Azria
Perfect for: ALL occasions

I can't recommend this blazer enough.  Yes, it's pricy - the piece is available HERE for $173 - but it's a quality piece that looks amazing dressed up and down.  I'm def. going to re-style this piece in the future!
Another blazer shot for you guys...
A closer look at my jewelry.  Love, love, LOVE my new earrings from Designz by Dez.  These gorg chandelier earrings are accented with Czech glass beads, and they're HANDMADE by the owner herself (!!!!) I absolutely love that they're lightweight - I stopped buying statement earrings from Amrita Singh because they were TOO freakin' heavy.  I promise you'll love these babies!  Available here for $30 in black or turquoise.
My dress sans blazer - available here at stylemoi for $25.99!  A super cute and comfortable piece for sure - shirt dresses are always easy to style.  Moving onto my bag, this fab piece is available at Avber for $49.99 + free shipping (originally $99).  Man, this item is LEGIT!  It's very Chanel-esque, and although it's faux-leather, the quality's on point.  Dimensions are as follow:  12"x5.3"x 7.1", and the bag's available in 5 other colors (prices vary on color - black + beige are the most expensive).

Workwear Wednesday: The Striped Two-Piece

Today's work-friendly OOTD is officially live... Don't ask me why I'm stating the obvious.  Honestly, I just didn't know how to start this post sooo there we go *shrugs* Honesty's the best policy, right? Ha.  ANYWHO, I freakin' love Wednesdays!  I live for cute office-friendly ensembles.  I styled this Tobi blazer WAY back in the day so if it looks familiar, that's why.

When Byer California sent me this chic striped skirt I immediately thought, "why not wear this as a two-piece striped suit?"  I went with it and grabbed my blazer, and to my delight it worked out nicely.  I wanted to keep the look clean and chic so I paired it with a white crop top from Charlotte Russe.  Why did I go with a crop? Because I didn't want my shirt to get all bunched up! I hate when that happens.  Tucking in tops can be such a hassle - hashtag first world problems.
A closer look at my necklace.  It definitely adds a sophisticated touch!
My Byer CA striped skirt *forms heart with hands* It's available HERE for $38.  Made of a polyester/spandex blend, the textured knit is stretchy and comfortable!  I wear it in a size small, and it fits me like a glove!  The quality's comparable to H&M in my opinion.  With my exclusive discount code - enter SENSIBLESTYLISTA at checkout to get an extra 20% off - this skirt costs about $30. Totally worth it if you're a fan of stripes.  FYI: the length is perfect for work!

FYI, the Tobi blazer is also available HERE if you'd like to wear them together like I did.  The blazers currently on sale for $31 + an extra 30% off with code SUNLIT = $21.70 + free shipping!  The blazer's quality is comparable to H&M as well.  Tobi's one of my favorite stores!  They carry super trendy clothing for affordable prices.  I suggest taking advantage of their sale before it ends on May 21st.  Please don't hesitate to contact me with questions!

Skirt:  c/o Byer California
Blazer: Tobi (currently on sale for $31 - originally $52)

Soooo, I only have one pic today because lighting was bunk.  I apologize!  Things have been totally cray.  Summer will def. be better  though - I'll have more time to do shoots outdoors.  Anywho, what do you guys think of my new skirt?  I really like the design.  One can never go wrong with a fab form-fitting printed pencil!  I absolutely love the zipper detailing, too.  I kept things simple up top because I wanted to style a classy look today for you guys so I threw on a ruffled tank and cashmere cardi.

Statement pearls are a must-have IMO.  I recommend purchasing a traditional strand (a total classic for sure) and an updated statement piece (to add a trendy touch of course)!

The Tailored Dress

Excited to partner up with Byer California again today on Sensible Stylista - I featured them HERE a while back.  This gorgeous dress is PERFECT for work - super smart for sure.  I love the contrasting color blocking, and the fit's on point - the built-in belt highlights the small of your waist creating a slimmer silhouette.

I'm such a huge fan of Byer California.  They have the cutest work-friendly stuffs.  Clicky HERE to browse their online collection.  I recommend shoppin' their dresses & skirts!  Where do you guys shop for work clothes?

The Linen Pencil Skirt

I apologize in advance for today's post - it's short (but hopefully sweet) because my photos kind of came out "meh".  I'll do a better job next time, I promise.  Anywho, let's get down to bidness! Imma start by telling you guys all about my new necklace courtesy of Mad Jewels.  My chelsea horn necklace is available HERE for $58.  It's 30" long, and the horn's 2'.  It's pricey, but the quality's on point!

Let me tell you a bit about the designer behind MJ.  Madison Patrylick started creating baubles at the young age of 8 - she inherited her love for jewelry from her mother.  She's self-taught (crazy impressive, right?) BTW.   Shop Mad Jewels' fab collection today - they offer affordable baubles made of high quality materials such as natural and semi-precious stones.  On top of it all, MJ donates a portion of proceeds to non-rofit organizations such as the Boys & Girls Clubs of America, Operation Kindness, and The Trevor Project.
A closer look at today's work-friendly OOTD! What do you guys think of my new blouse courtesy of ZNU? I think it's super cute - the lace embroidery is very pretty IMO!

My Take on Menswear

It's time for another office-friendly look on SS today - YAYZORS for Workwear Wednesday.  I wore my fave dress pants (my Betabrand yoga bottoms - feel like PJs but look like slacks) and styled them with a bold striped top from Banana Republic.  It was on sale for like $20 or so.  I thought it'd be great for work so I picked it up! I'm always looking for quality blouses.

I skipped jewelry and all that jazz to keep things simple because my stripes were surprisingly bold - I didn't want to overpower with statement jewelry.  I threw on a vest on top and carried my mom's Dior bag to complete my look!
A full body shot for you guys...
Pants:  c/o Betabrand
Vest:  H&M
Top:  Banana Republic (bought for $19 on sale)
Bag:  Christian Dior - borrowed

Sensible Stylista x Felice Fabric

Partnering up with Felice Fabric today on SS!  I had a ton of fun shooting this dress - available here for $39.  I did another editorial-like post for y'all just because.  It gives me a chance to improve my (non-existent) modeling skills, ha!
A full shot of my dress.  Super cute, for sure!  I like anything with lace though so I'm pretty biased.  What do you guys think of the design - yah or nah?
This dress is perfect for the office.  It's form flattering but still modest due to the length.  The lace detailing is sexy, but in a subtle, classy way!  Grab a neutral tote, throw on beige heels, and you're good to go.  I chose NOT to accessorize today - shocking, I know - because I thought the lace looked good all on its lonesome.

Ellis & Eli Boutique

YAY!  So Workwear Wednesday's officially a thing now.  For today's post, I've featured a LOVELY navy dress (perfect for work + play) courtesy of Ellis and Eli Boutique. Ann Dunaway - the fab owner of E&E - founded the fab company in 2014!  She spent several years working in retail, finance, and sales before pursuing her dream business.  Her passion definitely shows, and her collection is girly and fun!
Let's take a closer look at my new dress!  I dressed it up for work because, well, it's Workwear Wednesday - simple as that! I threw on a light cocoon cardi for warmth - AC can get a little intense, ha - and statement pearls to up the class factor.  How would you guys style this for the office?
My current faves all under $100!  Which one do you like best?

I'm SUPER excited to partner up with Of Mercer (aka professional workwear heaven) for today's post.  The co-founders, Dorie and Emelyn, created Of Mercer with a singular vision of "impeccable workwear: fashioned for your life, suited to your budget."  They created a new brand that bypassed the middleman + retail markup to give customers designer quality for sensible prices

They offer extreme value by using luxury Italian wool and specialty fabrics to produce impeccably tailored pieces all under $250.  For today's OOTD, I'm wearing their stunning Leopard Thompson dress.  The LT has a black wool body with contrasting leopard-jacquard panels.  The pleated short sleeves add a feminine touch while the zippers ooze contemporary edge.  Perfect for the young professional!  Simply throw on fab statement jewelry & black heels, and you're good to go!  Easiest outfit ever.

Johnston & Murphy Wedges: Review + International Giveaway

I'm SUPER excited to partner up with Johnston & Murphy again on SS.  They're generously agreed to give one VERY lucky winner a pair of Meagan slide wedges (retailed at $198) in the color of their choice: white, black, orange.  Rules are simple as always.  All you have to do is follow them on instagram via rafflecopter below.  There are also bonus entries available to up your chances of winning - ends May 4th.  Good luck to y'all!
Let's talk a little fashion!  I re-mixed my favorite +Talbots pencil skirt and styled it with a chic white blouse and thin gray cardigan.  I picked the cardi up from Madewell way back in the day for $20 or so.  It was on clearance + extra 30% off + student discount.  Yeah, total bargain.

Always ask and see if they offer special discounts because many of them do - Banana Republic, J Crew, Gap, and ASOS to name a few.  Today's look is simple because I didn't feel like wearing jewelry.  I will rarely say that!  I wasn't feeling great so I decided to forego the accessories.  I did jack my mom's YSL bag though, haha.  Y'all know how much I love handbags!
A closer look at my Johnston & Murphy wedges.  They're SO chic.  Made of italian suede, they're 3.5" high with a 1/2" platform.  Super comfortable due to highly cushioned insoles!

Mixing Prints: Leopard + Polka Dots

Yay for mixing prints!  Excited to tell you guys all about today's OOTD.  Let's start with my new handbag courtesy of Ms. Little's Bag.  This fab item is made from high-quality pu leather and has a fully lined interior.  The exterior is waterproof AND scratch-resistant.  Clicky HERE to pick one up for yourself.  Use code FreeShip to get free shipping on US orders $75+.
I'm LOVING my new collarless leopard blouse - currently available at Tamar for $39 HERE (originally $69).  It's a serious must-have IMO.  If you're a fan of animal print, you're gonna want to cop this STAT.  It looks great dressed up and down and looks WAY more expensive than it is. I guarantee this will become a wardrobe fave.
My look sans jacket!  Wearing several prints at once can be scary (since you're in essence making a "loud" fashion statement) so I recommend sticking to neutrals if you're a "beginner".  Experiment with different black & white prints to start.
A close-up of my new necklace from Sweet Cases!  Love this edgy take on pearls.  Use code SENSIBLE to get an extra 20% off.
