Mixing Prints: Polka-dots + Florals - Sensible Stylista

Mixing Prints: Polka-dots + Florals

For today's post, I've decided to feature two of my favorite prints: florals and polka dots. Although these patterns are busy & bold, they work extremely well together because they share similar color schemes that unify the outfit, ultimately creating a cohesive whole.
I wore a dainty nameplate necklace for simplicity's sake.  The last thing I wanted to do was over-accessorize!  I threw on ivory wedges and grabbed a trendy Kate Spade clutch to complete the look.
Bag:  Kate Spade
Skinnies:  Madewell
Necklace:  Baublebar
Shoes:  Candie's via Kohl's ($32)
Top:  Forever 21 (originally $20, now on sale for $14)

What "rules" do you follow when mixing prints?  Any tips you'd like to share?

  1. Love your clutch. When ever I mix prints, I usually lean towards a same color scheme to prevent clashing or go with a similar pattern.

  13. I don't own many prints but I try to look for more printed things when I shop nowadays. They make outfits more interesting and make styling easier. I love your simple wedges and accessories with such a busy outfit!

  29. Whoa, I'm so surprised at how well these go together! I'm not one to wear busy and bold things usually, so it would take a big leap of "faith" to wear something like that. haha. But lately I've definitely been more excited about fashion and different patterns, so I actually like this combination! :)

  38. I think these prints look perfect together! Like you said, when mixing prints, they have to be of the same color scheme and of course, the accessories are important. I love the shoes and clutch you chose, they look great in this outfit.
