So, now that you guys know all about this summer's
eye,
eyebrow, and
lip trends it's time to talk about nails! Certain colors are associated with different seasons; ex. black and maroon for winter, pink and blue for summer. However, four specific trends are getting a lot of extra attention this summer!
1. Stiletto Nails
Fake nails are nothing new; for people with stubby nails like me, acrylics are a god send. I usually get the typical square or round shapes, but lately a new style has been popping up: stiletto nails! These super long, witch-looking nails have been super popular in Hip-Hop culture lately, and you can see them all over Kylie Jenner's Instagram page. You can either go get expensive acrylics stiletto nails at the salon, or just buy some press on!
Here are some great examples of the latter:
2. Pastel Polish
Back when we published our eye trends post
HERE, we talked about pastel eyeliner at length. Well, that trend also translates to the nails! This trend is
everywhere, from famous nail Instagram pages to Vogue! Yes, that's right, even Vogue has talked about this awesome summer trend.
Here are a ton of cute pastel polishes to browse through:
3. Nail Art
If you have an Instagram account, you've definitely seen this trend. Nail art pages are literally blowing up - they're becoming as popular as makeup tutorial accounts! Basically, nail art is any cool design. It can be an intricate floral pattern or a simple, black line down running down the middle. Unfortunately, I'm not talented enough to rock this trend, but if you have the ability, definitely try it out!
Here are tools y'all will need to get perfect nail art:
4. Gel Nails
A few years ago, I'd never even heard of gel nail polish, and now it's EVERYWHERE! Basically, it's a very thick formula that you paint on. It takes a really long time to chip and looks amazing -- the finish is shiny and beautiful. However, it can destroy your nails and is a huge pain to get off. You can either get this at the salon for the full experience - you have to put your hands under a UV light for it to try! Or, you can do your own at home with polishes that claim to give the same effect.
Here are some of the best gel nail polishes out there:
What do you guys think of these trends, any faves? If you try out any of these styles, make sure to snap a pic for Insta and upload it with the hashtag #sensiblestylista!
