Sensible Stylista x Hair Cuttery

Yesterday, Hair Cuttery generously invited me to get my hair did at their Hanover, MD location!  I was super excited because my mane needed a touch-up badly - it's been far too long since I've gotten a cut!  For those of you unfamiliar with HC, they're the largest family owned chain of hair salons in the country, with nearly 900 locations on the East Coast & Midwest.  They offer a full complement of cuts and styling, coloring, waxing and texturizing services with no appointment necessary, as well as a full line of professional hair care products.
If you ever decide to get your hair cut in my area, make sure you visit this HC!  Just make sure you call ahead to get an appointment with Staci, the head stylist.  She's absolutely amazing - super friendly and skilled.  She has years of experience under her belt, and it definitely shows!  I went in thinking I'd just get a trim, but decided to get layers after talking to her!

She cut off about 2 inches and worked her magic.  My hair has honestly never looked better.  I know you guys may be skeptical, but I'm dead serious.  My shampoo, cut, and styling only came out to be $30.  Needless to say, I'm beyond pleased!  To see my new 'do, add me on snapchat - my handle's @sensiblestylist!  I'm also going to share a snap of it tomorrow on my instagram, so stay tuned.  If you're not already following me on IG, make sure y'all come find me and say hello!
To find a Hair Cuttery near you, use their salon locater - you can access it here!

April Beauty Must-haves

1.  Hask Bamboo Oil Strengthening Shampoo ($5.99) - Love, love, LOVE this shampoo.  Bamboo oil strengthens hair and delivers essential nutrients to weakened and lifeless strands providing a strong foundation and improving flexibility.   It works with all hair types and smells amazing.  If you're a fan of lemongrass, this is a must-have. Note: A little goes a long way because this shampoo lathers really well!  It'll leave your mane soft and tangle-free. Also, as a plus, this product's free of sulfates, parabens, drying alcohol, and artificial colors.

2.  Hask Bamboo Oil Strengthening Conditioner ($5.99) - Complements the aforementioned Hask shampoo beautifully.  Make sure y'all try the set for an affordable yet effective experience!  Contains ProDefense Complex (aka biotin + collagen) to fortify, providing stronger and healthier looking hair. TIP: leave the product on for a few minutes for best results.

3.  Epic Blend Premium Lip Balms ($3.49) - Their petroleum-free balms are superior in every sense. Made from all natural ingredients, they're gluten-free and non-GMO with natural flavors!  They started with three flagship products (hemp vanilla, hemp coconut, hemp mint) and expanded to include more flavors, vegan products, tinted balms, and extra-hydrating lippies.  They only use top-shelf ingredients like organic beeswax, organic coconut oil, and organic sunflower!  Their hemp banana's my favorite.  Get free shipping on orders $20+.

4.  When Sheet Masks ($7) - When masks are everything and more!  They're all-natural sheets made from coconuts that hold essence up to 100 times their weight.  For those of you interested, there are 5 different kinds available: Travelmate, 10PM, Snow Magic, Glamour Base, and The Last Choice.  My personal favorites are 10PM and The Last Choice, but they all work well.  Try one out STAT for a luxe at-home spa experience.  Korean skincare at its best!

5.  Pur Glow Strobing Palette ($34) - I had literally JUST mastered contouring when strobing became a "thing."  I still prefer the former, but I like the overall effect of the latter as well.  For those of you looking to experiment, this palette will give you instant luminescence with its trio of silky cream shades. They glide on and give you streak-free coverage that quickly transforms into a powdery, transfer-resistant finish that you can layer.  Use a contour brush to apply it! I personally like using it on my cheek bones in addition to the center of the forehead + bridge of the nose.  I own both Moonlight Glow and Sun-Kissed Glow - both are gorgeous!  I recommend the first for fairer skinned individuals, and the second for darker.

6.  Hask Bamboo Deep Conditioning Packette ($2.99) - I know this is packaged individually, but I honestly get 2-3 uses out of it.  My point? Don't slather it all on at once.  This product's super strengthening and moisturizing so if you have issues with dry hair, this is a must-try!  It'll make a world of a difference without breaking the bank.

7.  PCA Skin Revitalizing Eye Gel ($84) - an amazing eye gel that strengthens, firms and lifts skin! You'll see results within a week or so.  It treats dark circles, fine lines, wrinkles and more.  I use it twice a day (morning + night) and refrigerate it to soothe and further reduce puffiness.  Also available in a cream formulation here for those of you who prefer richer textures.  Use code Welcome to get free shipping on your first order - valid until June 30th.

8.  Hask Bamboo Oil Vial ($2.99) - At $2.99, this product's a freakin' steal.  I've been using this on my hair post-shower every day! I like to put it on my ends to keep strands hydrated.  Warning:  avoid applying it on your roots and don't use too much.  You want moisturized, not oily!

Sensible Stylista x Secret

I'm super excited to partner up with Secret for my latest post! New Secret Outlast Xtend ups the ante with 48-hour odor protection and is available in both Clear Gel and Invisible Solid forms. Personally, I prefer the former, not because it works better - the Solid's just as legit - but because I like the way it feels on my skin, especially during spring & summer.  Secret’s new Xtend Technology includes an added layer of active ingredients within the Clear Gel formula, and is specifically formulated to dry fast and adhere to your skin to leave no white marks or residue behind.
If you're constantly on the run like I am, you'll need a no-fail deodorant.  There's seriously nothing worse than stepping into a professional setting and having to worry that you might not smell so hot. Spare yourself the embarrassment by covering your bases.  With just two clicks, one swipe and seconds to dry, you'll get continuous 48-hour odor protection.  Try the Clean Lavender scent - it's my favorite by far!

The exciting news – you can try it out for yourself! Head over to SecretStore.com and use the code PL76XS to request a free sample of Secret Outlast Xtend!

1.  Color Control Cushion Compact Broad Spectrum SPF 50+ ($60) - Completely and utterly obsessed with this compact.  The finish is extremely flattering - think dewey with great coverage. I love that it provides SPF protection and leaves skin deeply hydrated.  It absorbs and blends beautifully so layer as much as you want - the formula never looks caked on.  You're left with a natural finish with zero "imperfections."  I use light/medium yellow, but there are 5 other colors available - browse them here.  Note:  this product comes with a refill so you're getting two compacts for $60 - still pricey but worth every cent.

2.  Moisture Bound Intensive Serum Masque (2 for $32 or 6 for $90) - Looking to relax? Have an at-home spa night and spoil yourself silly with this unique two-step ampoule masque.  Infused with 100% pure bamboo sap and hydrating 5-Hydra Complex, it cools and plumps, revitalizing skin by restoring moisture and luminosity.  Apply the serum on your face and stick on the masque for 10-15 minutes to get your pamper on.  It's definitely one of the best sheet masques I've ever tried!

3.  Age Correcting Foundation Cushion Spectrum SPF 25 ($80) - Perfect your complexion with this luxe formula.  Even-Layer protective technology conceals pores and evens out skin tone, green Miracle T, the brand's patented ingredient, restores skin and boosts suppleness, and green tea polysaccharides protects skin from environmental aggressors. Like the cushion compact above, this product comes with a refill!  There sell 5 shades in total - click here to browse.  I use light medium, and it works really well with my skin.

4.  Moisture Bound Sleeping Recovery Masque ($60) - If you haven't tried this yet, you need to STAT.  It's seriously the most amazing overnight treatment you'll ever use.  Apply a thin coat - think dime size - over your moisturizer and let it work its magic.  Formulated with 5-Hydra Complex (a potent blend of Asian botanicals), this product is lightweight and luxe. You'll wake up with baby soft skin.

5.  Intensive Vitalizing Eye Essence ($95) - This product works wonders because it de-puffs, lifts, and brightens. It contains active ingredients that target the delicate eye area effectively; caffeine supports natural circulation treating dark circles, Bright T-Ferment, well, brightens, and oat extract firms while hydrating.  You'll notice a difference almost immediately, and as a plus, the metal applicator feels great!  It's freezing cold so it treats puffiness right from the get-go.  A little goes a long way so this product will last you months.

The Best of Aveda

1.  Smooth Infusion nourishing styling creme ($26) -  I seriously can't think of a better name for this cream than smooth infusion - it describes it to a tee!  If you're looking to nourish hair and fight frizz in intense humidity, cop this baby stat because this product's is the bees knees.  It contains shea butters and botanicals like organic cupuacu.  Put it on post-shower for a polished mane that'll last all day and/or night.

2.  Thickening Tonic ($28) - If you have thin hair, this product's a serious must-have.  Powered by botanicals, it thickens instantly by expanding strands from roots to ends.  Spray it on your part and comb down after you shower!  I guarantee you'll see a real difference.

3.  Shampure dry shampoo ($30) - Hands down, the best dry shampoo I've ever used.  It revives my hair by absorbing excess oil with a non-aerosol powder mist that smells like heaven.  It's 99.8% naturally derived, and the aroma's made with 25 pure flower & plant essences. I wash my hair every 2-3 days so dry shampoo's a must for me. This product leaves me feeling super clean, and as a bonus, it gives my mane quite a bit of volume!  Note: this is not a spray - you have to squeeze the bottle to get a puff of product.

4.  Aircontrol light hold hair spray ($28) - A wonderful hair spray that's long-lasting yet light. Derived from pine resin technology, it dries softly onto your mane, never leaving a "crunch."  This product's a godsend for those of you with fine hair.  It adds texture sans shine and smells amazing like all things Aveda.  It also eliminates static while spraying on dry.

5.  Light Elements Defining Whip ($24) - This whip is everything.  It holds my mane in place all day without weighing it down. A little goes a long way so don't go too crazy - a quarter-sized dollop will do.  Texturize and volumize your hair with this airy wax to create definition without bulk!  I personally like to use it on my curls.

6.  Controlforce firm hold hair spray ($30) - A fierce hair spray that holds like a boss and provides 24-hour humidity defense.  It contains certified organic essential oils like bergamot, palmarosa, and Bulgarian lavender and works with all hair types.  It's the firmest hold hair spray they sell so pick this up ASAP if you're looking for serious strength.  I highly recommend it, especially to performers!  I'm a pianist by day, and my hair often gets out of control when I'm playing - this spray helps me keep it all in check.  Note: although it's strong, the effect is still flexible so you can shape your mane after spraying it on so you don't have to worry about "helmut head."

Sensible Stylista x Beyond the Beauty: Review + International Giveaway

I'm super excited to partner up with Beyond the Beauty for today's post.  I had the opportunity to review their three piece styling set, and to say I'm a fan is a gross understatement.  The complete set includes a mini-straightener, straightener and volume curling tool so you basically have everything you need, including a great travel-size hair tool.
Let me break it all down for you guys!  The mini-straightener's made of tourmaline and ceramic plates that are 0.5" in size. Featuring far infrared technology, the tool heats up in seconds and is distributed evenly throughout!  Negative ionic technology helps hair retain more moisture.  The full-sized straightener works pretty much the same way, but it's made of 100% solid ceramic plates that are 1.25' in size.  The temperature's adjustable and the tool reaches up to 450 degrees fahrenheit. Like the mini-straightener, the volume curling tool is made of tourmaline and ceramic.  The barrel's 25-18mm, and it's clipless for flawless styling.  It heats up to 386 degrees fahrenheit and comes with a heat-resistant glove!  As you can see, I own the set in pink, but it's available in black and peacock as well.

Lucky for you guys, Beyond the Beauty has generously offered to give one lucky reader the same set in the color of their choice.  As always, entering is super easy!  All you have to do is "like" Beyond the Beauty on facebook via rafflecopter below.  There are several bonus entries available to up your chances of winning so make sure you take advantage.  Trust me, you definitely want to win this!  I mean, the prize is worth $499! That's straight up insane.  Keep the set for yourself or gift it to a friend to make their month, ha. My Favorite Hair Tools

1.  colortraktools Croc Clips - If you're looking for solid styling clips, your search ends now.  These babies work like a charm!  They hold hair securely in place without tugging, and they hold a surprisingly large amount of hair.  For those of you interested, you can purchase a set of 4 for $8.99 HERE online at Sally Beauty.

2.  Lionesse Tourmaline Flat Iron - I'm straight up convinced that this 2" iron is magical.  It heats up in 30 seconds, reaching 450 degrees fahrenheit, and uses advanced infrared technology to prevent damage.  I really can't rave about it enough!  It just works SO well.  Your do will seriously look celeb-sleek.  It doesn't take much time either.  I used to own a Chi, and it took me a good 20 minutes to do my entire mane; now it takes me 5 minutes tops.  Now, this item does not come cheap ($300), but remember, you're paying for quality.  It'll be worth every penny in the end - think of it as an investment...a very expensive investment.

3.  Tangle Teezer Detangling Hairbrush - This tool is everything. If you have long hair, you need to purchase this stat.  It painlessly removes tangles and knots as it works through wet or dry hair.  The patented teeth formation bends and flexes, minimizing hair breakage and cuticle damage while adding shine.  Tip:  use it in the shower to brush to deep conditioners for pain-free detangling.  You're welcome in advance.  Available here in 4 different colors for $15.

4.  Sephora Ceramic Blow Dryer - Hands down, the best dryer I've used in years.  It takes a while to get used to the design because the buttons - 2 speed settings, 3 heat settings, and a cool shot button - are in an awkward place, but once you do, it's easy peasy lemon squeezy.  It dries hair quickly, and the finish is frizz-free.  The ceramic tourmouline seals in moisture while reducing drying time by up to 50 percent.  Also, the set includes two concentrator nozzles for precision air control, a nine-foot long cord, and a limited lifetime warranty - available here for $80 at Sephora.

5.  Tangle Teezer Blow Styling ToolI absolutely LOVE this brush.  It works on all hair types and has innovative teeth to prevent pulling.  The product removes excess moisture from the hair shaft to guarantee a quicker blow-dry - a must-have for young professionals!  Available HERE at Sephora for $32.

Obsessed with Burt's Bees Lipsticks

I am straight up obsessed with Burt's Bees new lipstick line.  There are 14 full coverage, satin-finish shades available in a variety of vibrant colors from pinks and corals to reds, nudes and mauves - browse them all here!  As you can see, I already own 5 different colors.  I love each and every one, but my personal favorite is Iced Iris because it transitions beautifully from work to play.  It's made of beeswax, moringa oil and raspberry seed oil so it's 100% natural. As a plus, the aforementioned ingredients offer 8 hours of intense moisturization so your pucker will look and feel great.
These lipsticks are perfect for any and every occasion.  I recommend going with a neutral hue for a polished everyday look or applying a vampy shade for a hot date!  If you're really looking to step up your game, throw on a sexy LBD and rock a bright red lip - you'll break necks left and right.
The line's super versatile - you'll get a ton of use out of each individual color.  The lipstick's somewhat sheer so you can build your ideal shade.  Personally,  I prefer that because I like to layer hues - it's more fun and unique that way.  Also, please note that the finish is slightly glossy.  It's very pretty, but I wanted to tell you guys straight up in case that's a dealbreaker for any of y'all.
This post was sponsored by Burt's Bees but all opinions are my own!  Follow them on facebook and twitter to stay in the know.

Keep Your Boka Beautiful

I'm super excited to talk about the importance of good oral hygiene today on Sensible Stylista.  Did you know that the American Dental Association recommends changing your brush once at least every three months?  Actually, even sooner if you're getting over a cold or flu to avoid spreading germs and reintroducing the virus to yourself.  To be honest, I used to be really lazy with my routine.  I mean, I brushed 2-3 times a day, but I wasn't so great with flossing and all that jazz.  However, after hearing dental horror stories from close friends and family, I started taking it all much more seriously.  Now, in addition to brushing 2-3 times a day, I use cocorinse in the morning and make sure to floss every night.

I used to just buy whatever was on sale, but after trying Boka out, I'll never go back.  Their products are made with high-quality materials that are proven to deliver a comfortable, effective cleaning at a price point almost anyone can afford.  Their brushes are made with Binchotan activated charcoal bristles that help prevent bacteria from growing, and their minty toothpaste is made with natural ingredients and essential oils like peppermint and mint - no SLS (sodium lauryl sulfate), fluoride, triclosan, artificial flavors or parabens.  Their floss, wrapped in natural beeswax, glides smoothly and expands between teeth to give you a super-clean mouth + gums.  It's free of both Teflon and petroleum.
Boka, a play on "boca" which means "mouth" in Spanish, delivers better oral care products right when you need them every 3 months.  Subscriptions are risk-free because you can cancel at any time, and as a bonus, I have a special discount code for you guys.  Enter STYLISTA25 at checkout to get 25% off any purchase - there are no limits, and you can use this on any product/subscription/gift set, but you can't combine it with any other offers/promos, and it can't be used more than once by the same individual.  This offer's valid until April 15th, 2016.
One last thing before I leave y'all - I'd like to very briefly tell y'all about Boka's cocorinse (14 packets for $20).  Until now, I'd never heard of oil pulling, but let me tell you, it's awesome.  It's an ancient Ayurvedic technique for swishing.  It naturally cleanses and whitens without the use of harsh chemicals.  Made with organic, cold-pressed virgin coconut oil and infused with organic peppermint and spearmint oils, it reduces harmful bacteria and supports long-lasting fresh breath.

Add it to your morning routine before breakfast/brushing for best results - it conveniently comes in single-use, recyclable packets!  Hold the packet in your hand to melt the mixture, swish it around - start with 5 minutes and work your way up to 10-20 - spit it out in the trash to avoid clogging pipes, and then brush normally.  As a plus, it conveniently comes in single-use, recyclable packets.   On top of it all, Boka donates a percentage of their profit to Surge to help provide clean water to those in need so it's basically a win-win situation.  If you have any questions regarding Boka, comment below and I'll get back to you ASAP.  You guys should know by now that I'm always here for you!
I was selected for this opportunity as a member of Clever Girls and the content and opinions expressed here are all my own.

March Beauty Favorites

1.  L'oreal Pro Brow Kit ($14.99) -  This all-in-one brow kit is a godsend!  It contains pigmented wax, setting powder, tweezers, an angled brow brush and a spoolie - pretty much everything you need to primp your brows like a pro.  I start by tweezing stray hairs and then brushing them gently.  I then dip my brush into the wax to shape them and apply setting powder to fill in gaps (with the same brush).  I have fairly full brows so I can usually get away with whatever, but after using this kit, I can't do without it.  It's now an integral part of my everyday routine.

For those of you wondering, my daily look is fairly simple - I literally take less than 5 minutes.  I slather on moisturizing sunscreen after washing my face and then use concealer to hide spots.  I do my signature cat-eye with liquid eyeliner and then quickly fill in my brows.  I then apply lipstick, gloss or whatever I'm in the mood for to finish off my look.

2.  It Cosmetics Superhero Mascara ($24) - I am head over heels in love with IT Cosmetics.  I seriously love everything they sell, and this product's no different.  Their new Superhero volumizing mascara is everything!  Infused with powerful proteins, strenghtening biotin, and Elastic Stretch Technology, it wraps each individual lash in a volume-boosting, lengthening and ultra-conditioning formula.  Start at the base of your lashes, wiggle and sweep up and through to the tips! If you want a custom lash look, layer away without fear.  I haven't experienced any clumping whatsoever so you guys should be good!

3.  L'oreal Pro Matte Gloss ($7.99) - Everyone seems to be obsessed with Kylie Jenner's matte Lip Kits, but I personally prefer L'oreal's glosses.  I like that her sets come with matching liners, but her products dry my lips out.  The Infallible line has a hydrating formula that keeps your pucker soft and smooth.  I especially love the funky applicator (aka the Petit Couer) - it helps you line your lips perfectly without effort!  I own, like, 9 different shades but my personal favorites are: Coral Sands, Blush and Shanghai Scarlet.  Note:  the product's technically supposed to last for 8 hours, but I think that's an overreach.  At best, it'll last you 3-4 so you'll definitely have to re-apply it throughout the day.  Also, if the shine bothers you, just blot some off - it'll leave a nice, deep tint.

4.  Chuda Healing Hydrating Cream ($150) - I'm sensible 95% off the time, but when it comes to skincare, I'm kind of a crazy person.  I'm not afraid to dish out moolah if it's for my face - natural remedies only though.  I don't have a problem with cosmetic surgery - if it makes you feel good, great - but it's just not for me.

Chuda cream's formula is rooted in the centuries-old, skin-healing Remedea Compound, a 1000 year-old medicinal remedy created by the Turmanidze family in the early 1800s used in Russia and Georgia to heal skin.  It's also boosted by scientifically advanced, medical-grade actives clinically proven to deeply hydrate and rapidly heal dry, damaged and/or compromised skin. Created by Dr. Elena Ocher, a Georgian-born neurosurgeon, she believed it was something that could benefit more people so she teamed up with a world-renowned chemist to create this groundbreaking line.  With this cream, your skin's getting the optimal blend of antioxidants, vitamins and essential fatty acids. Safe for highly sensitive skin, use this product at night before you go to bed.

5.  Elizabeth Arden Flawless Future Serum ($60) - I haven't used Elizabeth Arden in years, but after using this serum, I am a born-again fan.  This unique liquid contains caplet mini-beads that activate when dispensed.  It helps fight early signs of aging by reinforcing the skin's moisture barrier and reducing the appearance of fine lines.  I use this after applying toner and layer cream on top for max moisture.  Allow the product to dry in between!  You just have to wait a minute or so.

6.  Exuviance Gentle Cleansing Creme ($32) - Thanks to Brandbacker, I got a chance to try this baby out!  I've been a huge fan of Exuviance for god knows how long so I was thrilled to say the least. This gentle, soap-free formulation was created for sensitive skin to dissolve make-up and impurities without altering the skin's natural moisture balance.  It provides anti-aging benefits without irritation and improves skin's texture.  Wet your hands and face and massage it on in an upward circular motion.  Tissue it off or rinse with warm water before patting it dry.  You can use it both in the AM & PM, and it works well with all skin types.

6.  Zoya Nail Polish ($9):   In my opinion, Zoya is, without a doubt, the best polish out there.  Their lacquer is vegan-friendly, 5-free, and safe to use during pregnancy.  Your FFF box will either contain "Carey" or "Avril" - I received the latter, but both colors are gorgeous so you'll be content regardless. My Current Favorites: The February Edition

1.  Make Up For Ever Hydrating Base ($37): Hands down, the most amazing primer I own. It moisturizes my skin, provides a smooth base, and makes sure that my make-up stays put all day and/or night.  If you're planning on using foundation, make sure you apply this beforehand to get an even coat.  Your skin will look fresh and flawless.  Tip: if you're using a beauty blender, use this product to "wet" the sponge before dispensing foundation onto it.  It'll help the sponge absorb less and provide a supple looking finish.

2.  Exuviance Sheer Daily Protector ($42):  Thanks to brandbacker, I had a chance to try this fabulous product out.  As you all know, sunscreen is an absolute must in my book.  I wear it religiously!  If you don't use it daily, start doing so ASAP.  SPF helps protect your skin against photodamage.  This item's an ultra-fine transparent mineral sunscreen - the weightless fluid blends effortlessly on clean skin, or layered under makeup.  The universal tint smoothes imperfections and helps natural skin tone appear more even - a definite plus when you're too lazy to wear concealer, CC cream or the like. Multi-antioxidants Vitamin E and Lactobionic Acid fortify skin's natural defense, fighting free radicals before they can cause premature aging.  A PHA/Bionic complex helps prevent collagen breakdown to maintain firmness.  On top of it all, a highly purified and concentrated form of Green Tea Extract reduces cell breakdown and helps protect cellular DNA for healthy skin. Remember to shake the product vigorously for 15 seconds or so to ensure product consistency before use.

3.  It Cosmetics CC Cream ($38):  I am officially obsessed with IT Cosmetics.  You seriously can't go wrong with their line - all their products are incredible.  This CC cream is a multi-tasking beauty miracle.  ITC worked with plastic surgeons to develop this correcting cream, and it's clinically proven to improve skin.  It's infused with cutting edge anti-aging tech that improves texture, brightness and increases hydration by 79%.  The product's highly pigmented so it'll give you full coverage without creasing or cracking.  It also protects with SPF 50+.

4.  Make Up For Ever Artist Palette - Spring Flower ($44):  If you're looking for a fun new eyeshadow palette, make sure you check out Make Up For Ever's Spring Flower set.  It contains nine (3 perfectly matched trios) delicate yet versatile shades inspired by a fresh, blossoming spring bouquet. Innovative "gel-powder" formula boasts intense color pay-off and blendability.

5.  Jaqua Caramel Cappuccino Shower Syrup ($24):  Amazing shower gel that smells delicious enough to eat - a lusciously thick and creamy wash blended with coconut oil for deep hydration, mango extract for nourishment and avocado oil for softening.  This soap's made in the USA and tested on humans, not animals!  FYI:  they also carry four other scents:  buttercream, raspberry, champagne, and coconut.

6.  Shiseido Ibuki Multi Solution Gel ($38):  Zap zits effectively with this uniquely textured beauty gel.  It repairs breakouts, roughness, and dry patches while minimizing the appearance of pores.  You can apply it all over your face, but I recommend using it as a spot treatment.  It's gentle so your skin won't peel.  To fight an especially pesky pimple, use Queen Helene's Mint Julep Masque beforehand.

7.  Make Up For Ever HD Microfinish Powder ($34):  Love, love, LOVE this setting powder.  Get ridiculously smooth skin with this product.  Make Up For Ever's HD Powder softens the appearance of imperfections, fine lines, and pores, giving one an "instagram filter" like finish.  Your skin will look velvety smooth, and you won't experience any caking whatsoever.  This product's perfect for everyday use - it's invisible so it won't affect your foundation color at all.  TIP:  Use a powder kabuki brush to press and roll powder on the center of your face, then dust to remove any excess powder.

The Best of Korean Skincare

1.  Cel-Derma Ideal Radiance Hydrogel Mask ($24.87 for 4) - Indulge in a luxurious at-home spa night with this mask for killer skin.  It's a magical sheet that's temperature activated. Made of water soluble hydro gel, it increases your skin's resilience and moisturizes like no other.  If you're looking to hydrate, you'll absolutely love this!  Warning:  everything is written in korean, ha.  Lucky for you guys, y'all have me! Simply wash your face, splash on some toner, place this on your skin carefully, and leave it on for 40 minutes.  Do NOT wash this off afterwards. Just pat your face for max absorption - if you want, you can layer extra lotion or cream on top.  I have family members send me this straight from Korea, but you can purchase it HERE on Amazon.  FYI, each package contains 1 disposable mask.

2.  Amore Pacific Sleeping Mask ($60) - If you haven't tried this yet, you need to purchase this at Sephora ASAP.  This is the most amazing overnight treatment you'll ever use.  Apply a thin coat - think dime size - over your moisturizer and let it work its magic.  Formulated with 5-Hydra Complex (a potent blend of Asian botanicals that deliver mad hydration), this product is lightweight and luxe. Yes, it's on the pricy side, but I promise it's worth every penny.

3.  Sooryehan Hyo Fermented Emulsion ($55) - Like the Sulwahsoo product pictured above, this is also an emulsion - I like to use it as a lotion though.  This item was created by fermenting four oriental herbs:  ginseng, foxglove, Pleuropterus multiforus, and Polygonatum falcatum. These ingredients provide max defense against aging, pollution and the like.  It absorbs quickly and doesn't leave much residue so your skin will feel hydrated without any kind of unpleasant stickiness. Available HERE online at Amazon for $55.

4.  Artistry Youth Xtend Enriching Cream ($79.09) - This cream is unreal.  It works overnight to "reprogram" your skin - it repairs existing damage, while improving smoothness and radiance.  Made of life-extending mediterranean botanical, this cream encourages skin's natural youth protein production.  FYI, it's currently on sale at Amazon for $79.09 - it's originally $169.95.  Purchase this before it sells out.  I promise you'll thank me when your skin's softer than a baby's bottom, ha.  In my very humble opinion, this cream's better than La Mer's famous moisturizing soft cream!

5.  Sulwahsoo Essential Balancing Emulsion ($63) - This product's technically an emulsion, but I use it in place of toner.  It's formulated with Korean medicinal herbs so it soothes while it softens. Mountain peony prevents dehydration while yai jiu hua extract enhances radiance and encourages circulation.   FYI, it's ideal for all skin types!  Neiman Marcus recommends that you to apply it after Sulwahsoo's First Care Serum and Balancing Water at morning AND night, but I think that's overkill - I personally only use it at night. Apply it under your moisturizer, and you should be good to go!  If you want to supercharge your routine, apply a serum after the emulsion in the evening (before you layer cream on top).  Tip: let your skin absorb each product - wait 3-5 minutes in between applications. Also, don't touch anything germy (like your phone) or else you'll counteract this magical goodness.  Only use clean hands on your skin.  If you don't, you'll totally break out!  Trust me, I speak from experience.

December Favorites: The Best of Beauty

1.  Marc Jacobs Velvet Noir Major Volume Mascara ($26) - Thanks to Influenster, I got to review MJ's new mascara.  I was actually running out so it was great timing, ha!  Although I'm a huge fan of his clothing, I've never tried his make-up.  Don't ask me why because there's no reason! I guess I just never got around it.  I'm really glad I tried it out though because this mascara is legit.  It does a really good job volumizing - you'll look like you're wearing falsies. Seriously.  If you're a fan of bold lashes, you've go to try this product out.  FYI, a little goes a long way!  Don't use too much because you'll probably end up with clumpy lashes.  Also, let the product dry so it doesn't smudge!

2.  Urban Decay Subversion Lash Primer ($20) - Hands down, the most amazing lash primer I've ever used.  The brush coats from root to tip and is formulated with conditioning vitamin E and protective panthenol.  You'll get a really full lash look without the clumping - no spider effect, ha!  Google "spidey lashes" if you don't know what I'm talking about.

3.  Urban Decay Heavy Metal Glitter Eyeliner ($20) - This product's perfect for the holiday season!  If you wanna add a little extra oomph to your look, purchase this STAT.  I'm not usually a glitter advocate, but this liner's on point!  The sparkle stays perfectly in place,  and the effect is sophisticated.  As a plus, application couldn't easier - simply apply a thin line to your lids for a stunning look.  Available in 7 different shades.  I have one of each, and they're all beautiful.

4.  Yes To Coconut Ultra Hydrating Souffle Moisturizer ($14.99) - Omg, this cream is to die for - it seriously works miracles! If you're looking for an affordable moisturizer, pick this up ASAP.  Trust me, your skin will thank you.  If your skin gets dry like mine does in the winter, you'll want to get a solid moisturizer.  This is spiked with virgin coconut oil, creamy shea butter, and jojoba seed oil, so you get serious hydration.  As a plus, this product smells like heaven!

5.  Strivectin Advanced Retinol Pore Refiner ($99) - I've used this religiously for the last two months, and I can see a very noticeable difference in my skin.  If you're looking to reduce enlarged pores, you need to try this out.  Now, it's NOT cheap, but the results are well worth the money.  I like to apply this under my sunscreen - it's a lightweight moisturizer so it layers well.

6.  Cameo Contour Stick ($39.50) - I've always been a powder-contour kind of girl, but I gotta say, cream contouring kind of rocks... and by "kind of," I mean "totally," ha. I use both in my make-up routine now!  FYI, there are 5 colors available and all of them come with a fancy blending sponge.  In case you're wondering, I use "light."  It's very subtle - definitely not as dramatic as using different colored concealers to contour - and in addition to emphasizing your face's natural highlights and shadows, it hydrates with ceramides and vitamin A.

7.  Urban Decay's Naked Illuminated Shimmering Powder for Face and Body ($30) - I'm starting to realize that I pretty much love everything Urban Decay, ha.  This lightweight, baked powder is glam AF.  I'm all about subtle shimmer so this powder is pretty much a godsend.  If you're looking to up your make-up game, cop this STAT!  Also, the packaging is super cute.  It actually makes a great gift because it comes in an adorable box with a mirror and a brush!  FYI, it's available in three colors - I own it in "lit."  I like to apply some on my neck and cleavage for extra glow!

#TRYDRY with Dove Dry Spray

Introduced by Simply Stylist, I've partnered up with Dove to review their new Dry Spray for you guys today on Sensible Stylista.  As you all know, I lead a pretty crazy life.  I'm a doctoral student (pursuing two degrees), full-time blogger, concert pianist, AND piano teacher so I'm literally running from place to place...and sweating all over because I'm disgusting, ha!  So yeah, deodorant is must for me.  I've only used sticks in the past, but I've officially converted to sprays because of Dove.

I got to try two different sprays (pictured below) for the review which was awesome because they both smelled ah-MA-zing! They also felt really good against my skin.  I know that may sound weird, but you gotta try it to know what I mean, ha.  It's one of those situations, but trust me when I say you want to purchase this spray.  It doesn't leave any visible residue which is bomb. Oh, did I mention it also protects from perspiration for 48 hours?  Yep.  It shouldn't get much better than that, but... it does.  It goes on instantly dry and gives you softer, smoother underarms thanks to Dove's unique moisturizing technology.  For those of you interested, this spray is available in 6 different scents at food and drug retailers nationwide.  Make sure to try one out for yourself!

Babblebox: Stocking Stuffers for Beauty Buffs

I'm beyond excited to tell you guys all about BabbleBox today on Sensible Stylista.  They sent me four fabulous products to review, and I'm pumped to tell you guys about them.  These items also happen to (very conveniently) make great stocking stuffers/gifts!  Yeah, you're welcome in advance. Anywho, let's take a closer look:
1.  Way Too Tan Dark Hybrid Tanning Silicone:  This product's a high-end, one-of-a-kind, multi-purpose tanning lotion that can be used as a sunless product, or outdoors at a pool or beach.  It contains ultra-premium silicone emulsion offering a rich, luxe sensation with multiple natural enhancers that give you a fast, gorgeous, and dark tan.  Potent anti-aging organic antioxidants, including powerful grape seen extract, help protect and promote a youthful glow and enhance skin health.  High concentrations of Sodium Hyaluronate boosts moisture and fights aging by helping skin maintain elasticity and firmness, diminishing wrinkles.  It's the BEST sunless tanner I've ever used.

2.  MakeUp Forever Ultra HD Foundation:  I'm completely and utterly obsessed with this foundation. I can see why it's one of MF's bestsellers - it's very natural-looking!  Developed specifically for the film and TV industry's most advanced technology,  it creates a naturally flawless complexion.  It features uniquely-coated pigments that provide medium to buildable coverage with an even lighter weight, second-skin texture that looks just like skin.  For those of you wondering, it's available in 40 different shades.  TIP:  apply with their skin primer to create the perfect canvas for smoother, more even, and longer-lasting makeup.  Apply two pumps in thin layers, starting in the center of the face and stretching outward.  Use a flat foundation brush, tap where you need most coverage, and stretch to smooth.
3.  LAQA&Co Lip Pencils:  If you're looking for new lippies, make sure you shop LAQA&CO's collection ASAP.  Their multi-functional products are creatively packaged featuring artwork by young artists who each receive a cut of the profit from every product purchased.  Their lip pencils are light weight yet matte.  They double as lip and cheek stain and give you a fab fresh-faced glow that lasts all day long.  I also got to try their Lip Lube in Golly Geez Whiz.  It's a high-gloss, lightly pigmented lip balm that also works as a lip plumper.  If you want a bolder color, simply layer.  FYI, use code HOLIDAYLOVE to get an extra 30% off your purchase - valid until October.
4.  Jessica Simpson's Ten - I was thrilled to see Jessica Simpson's new fragrance included.  This perfume has a lovely floral, fruity scent that's combined with a feminine and sophisticated undertone of vanilla infusion, white chocolate bean, sandalwood, and driftwood.  The bottle's design mirrors the tenth anniversary theme with a single, elegant feather at the top, a symbol of the brand's free spirited style.   This scent was created in collab with senior perfumer Mary Pierre Julien of Givaudan.  FYI: if you purchase a full sized fragrance from JS, you get a complimentary signature tote bag with your purchase.  Clicky here for deets!

Top Five Moisturizing Lip Products

1.  Hourglass No. 28 Lip Treatment Oil ($42) - Although pricy, this product - made of cutting-edge actives, botanicals, and skin-rejuvenating vitamins - is liquid gold.  It conditions and shields against environmental elements, while strengthening the moisture barrier and boosting skin smoothness.  As a plus, the item's dispensed via an antibacterial, 24 karet tip for an extra soothing effect.

2.  C.O. Bigelow Rose Salve ($5.50) - If you have dry lips, this product's a must-have.  It's emulsified with rose extract, which conditions and helps ease irritation.  It gives you a light pink tint and happens to smell like heaven.  Apply a thin layer at night to keep your pucker moisturized.  Heads up, there's one "con," you have to use your finger for application, which sucks for a germaphobe like myself.  I recommend washing your hands before use.

3.  Vapour Organic Lip Balm ($20) - For those of you looking for a solid non-glossy lip balm, this product is the bees knees.  It has an antioxidant and botanical-rich formula that delivers moisture against dryness and chapping.  The jojoba oil boots hydration while other ingredients reduce inflammation.  Ideal for both guys and gals looking for a luxe chapstick.

4.  Bite Agave Lip Mask ($26) - A luxurious leave-on lip mask that moisturizes with a bio-active blend of organic agave nectar, jojoba oil, vanilla CO2 extract, and trans-resveratrol.  The consistency's nice and thick, and the packaging's really cute.  I love the tube it comes in!

5.  Burt's Bees Lip Crayons ($8.99) - Available in six creamy colors, these amazing crayons are the BEST tinted lip products you'll ever buy.  You don't get ANY flaking because this item moisturizes while giving you a matte finish.  I definitely prefer these crayons to lipsticks! If you have dry lips but want to give 'em a little color, make sure you try these out ASAP.  Carolina Coast and Sedona Sands are my two favorite shades!

AOL Fall Beauty Awards

I'm THRILLED to announce that I'm a 2015 fall beauty judge for AOL! I tried over 20+ skincare products, and I'll be telling you guys all about the best of the best in today's post.
1.  Bliss Micro Magic ($48) - Micro Magic is, hands down, the most incredible at-home microdermabrasion treatment I've ever tried.  Formulated with fine volcanic pumice, vitamin E, and soothing aloe, this product exfoliates like no other.  I promise that you'll see AND feel a difference after one wash!  $48 may seem pricy but this item's worth every penny!  Use it twice a week after cleansing for max results.

2.  C.O. Bigelow Rose Salve ($5.50) - If you have dry lips, this item is a must-have.  It's emulsified with rose extract, which conditions and helps ease irritation.  As a plus, it smells like heaven and gives you a light pink tint.  I like to apply a thin layer before bed to keep my pucker moisturized.

3.  Artistry Youth Xtend Enriching Cream ($79.30) - Artistry may just be my new fave skincare line. This cream is unreal because it works overnight to "reprogram" your skin - it repairs existing damage, while improving smoothness and radiance.  Made of life-extending mediterranean botanical, this cream encourages skin's natural youth protein production.  FYI, it's currently on sale at Amazon for $79.30 (it's originally $169.95).  Purchase this STAT before it sells out.  I promise you'll thank me when your skin's softer than a baby's bottom, ha.  In my humble opinion, this cream's better than La Mer's famous moisturizing soft cream.

4.  First Aid Beauty Facial Radiance Pads ($15 for 30, $30 for 60) - I don't know about you guys, but toner's a must for my daily skincare routine.  I usually use liquid toner, but I like these because they tone and exfoliate!  Ingredients include cucumber, indian gooseberry, lemon peel, and licorice root. Note: these pads are perfect for sensitive skin because they're free of harsh chemicals and colorants.

5.  Murad AHA/BHA Exfoliating Cleanser ($36) - I know I listed Bliss' exfoliating treatment above, but this cleanser's different because it's gentle enough for daily use.  Murad recommends using it 2-3 times a week, but IMO as long as you're not rubbing furiously, you can use it everyday.  It's made of three exfoliating agents - salicylic acid, lactic acid, and glycolic acid -  and Jojoba skin-polishing beads. The aforementioned ingredients loosen dulling buildup and polish excess debris.

6.  Josie Maran 100% Pure Argan Oil ($48) - This product is everything.  It's seriously the best argan oil I've ever used.  Grown organically in Morocco, this formula contains healing, conditioning, and anti-aging properties.  I apply this on my face (over my moisturizing cream) 1-2x a week and on the ends of my wet hair daily.

7.  Erno Laszlo Phormula 3-9 ($255) - Man, Erno Laszlo knows good skincare.  This incredible cream will seriously impress - this is luxury at its finest. Rich, tropical tamanu oil boosts skin health and promotes rapid healing, while dromiceius oil restores the skin's moisture barrier and stimulates cell renewal.  Note: this product apparently smoothes scars, wounds, and burns (in addition to dry skin) - I can't really comment because I don't have any notable marks.

Have you guys tried any of these? What beauty products are you loving lately?
