December 2013 - Sensible Stylista

The Best of 2013

Whoaaa, I can't believe the year's coming to an end already.  Time really does fly.  I could get all sappy and sentimental on ya'll, but I'll spare you guys the pain (hardy har har). Anywho, to celebrate the coming new year I thought I'd share my favorite looks from 2013.  I've provided links for each post for easy access.  Which outfit do you like best? Also, what kind of posts would you like to see more of in 2014?
I started my blogging journey in 2011, and I never expected to come this far.  2013 was an exciting year for me, but I know the new year will be even better!  Thank you all SO much for your support - you guys are the best!  Happy New Years Eve, errbody.  Have a blast, but please be safe!

Tulle, Frills, and Glitter

For today's post, I've featured a striking dress courtesy of Chicwish.  The gold embroidery and full tulle skirt are such lovely features.  The dress is super bold so I made sure to keep the accessories to a minimum.
I got this cashmere cardigan from the BCBG outlets YEARS ago.  I actually almost lost it while I was living in NYC back in 2010.  I stuffed it into my bag, and I guess it fell out while I was walking?  I ALMOST let it go, but then I remembered it was 100% cashmere, haha.  I retraced my steps and found it *pumps fist*
I wanted to show ya'll my dress sans cardigan.  Transition from day-to-night by accessorizing with a clutch for a romantic night out or dranks with frands.  FYI:  If you're LOVING this clutch, you're in luck.  I'm currently giving it away!  Scroll down below for more details.

Wardrobe Must-have: Aviator Sunglasses

I'm excited to tell ya'll that I FINALLY found a bomb pair of aviators!  I love the way they frame my face, and they're super affordable - only $15! Sunglass Warehouse has such wide variety of sunnies.  Make sure to check out their selection for trendy versions that won't break the bank. They have a ton of designer-inspired pieces as well.
For today's look du jour, I've featured a bunch of pieces from PersunMall.  I'm super impressed with the quality of their clothing and accessories.  I can't believe all the items I've styled are less than $11.  Craziness.  If you're interested in buying any of these pieces, scroll down below for product links!

December Workout Playlist + Updates

Hey guys,

I hope ya'll had a great Christmas! I can't wait to hear all about your new toys.  Hopefully Santa was super generous this year.  Anywho, I mentioned this on my FB page a couple weeks ago, but I'll say it again in case you guys missed it.  I deleted my Beauty & Fitness tabs because I thought it'd be better to share everything on here.

I know it's been a while since I blogged about fitness, but I figured I'd share my December playlist with ya'll.

2.  (Drop Dead) Beautiful - Britney Spears ft. Sabi (3:37)
3.  Rotation - Brilliant (5:19)

7.  Love More - Chris Brown ft. Nicki Minaj (3:10)
8.  Heartbeat - Childish Gambino (4:27)
9.  Damaged - Danity Kane (4:04)

I'd be lying if I said I've been maintaining my hardcore workout regiman cause I've definitely been pretty lazy aka serious couch potato. I've been eating like a champ though, hardy har har.  No shame whatsoever.  It's the holiday season so whatevs.  Plus, I just got to Florida so that means I'll be stuffing my face for the next couple of days.  Oh hello, food coma. Get ready for some serious foodporn, errbody!  I'll be sharing my trip photos on Instagram, so make sure to follow along.

HAHA I love finding these on pinterest.  I seriously lie in bed, look for funny images, and crack up by myself...
Rest assured, I'll be working hard to burn it all off in the New Year.  Until then carpe diem, YOLO, whatever.  Do you guys have any fun plans for New Years Eve? What did you guys do for the holidays?

For today's post, I've styled a sexy holiday look for ya'll featuring a fab LBD courtesy of HauteMiss.  The neckline is super risque, and  I LIKE it haha!
A closer look at my clutch.  Isn't it the cutest?  Anywho, if you guys LOVE this piece as much as I do, you'll be STOKED to hear that I'm giving it away on Dec. 24th!  WOOT!  Make sure to check back and enter for a chance to win...

Sponsor Spotlight: The Skandl

For today's post, I'd like to introduce ya'll to my newest sponsor:  The Skandl.  I actually just received a package from them yesterday.  They generously let me pick out a couple of items from their online boutique to style and feature, and I gots to say, their collection is BOMB.  I seriously only have good things to say about their products
1.  The Stacy Top ($18) - This top is a total must-have.  It's super unique and comfy - I'm in LOVE with the crochet detailing on the shoulders and back.  Also, the fit is super flattering.
2.  The Tropic Crop Top Bustier ($48) - Ya'll know how much I love bustiers.  I'll be pairing this with a skater skirt for sure!  Perfect for layering in the winter...
3.  The Flower Lace Bra Top  ($18) - Another great piece to pair with a high-waisted skirt or pant.  I love the super feminine print.  FYI:  The material is on the thinner side.  I mean, it's called a "bra top" for a reason, I skapose.
4.  Beaded Collar Necklace ($7) - I can't recommend this piece enough.  Seriously.  Buy it.  Right now.  SUPER cute and affordable.  I've never been a huge fan of the collar necklace until now.
5.  Vintage Distressed Tee ($28) - Love this top.  I can totally see myself styling with a fitted blazer and skinny jeans, BUT I'm super excited to wear it in the Spring so I can show off the sexy back!  I love unique cuts like these.  If you're interested, there are other colors available!

I hope ya'll liked this feature! I own all of these pieces, so if you guys have questions ask in the comment section below!

Playing with Color: Caramel + Oxblood

For today's post, I've styled a flirtatiously fun ensemble.  How's that for alliteration, ha!   I'm a nerd, whatevs.  Anywho, since today's featured color combo is bold, I made sure to stick to matching caramel and oxblood tones.  My scarf actually contains shades of both, which conveniently ties the look together.
OASAP sent me this cute corduroy skirt, but I don't know how I really feel about it.  I like the style and texture, but the fit isn't particularly flattering. It flares out too much, and there is extra material where there shouldn't be.  I usually really like the skirt selection there, so if you're looking to buy a OASAP skater, ask me which items I recommend in the comment section below!
I bought this Missoni scarf at Off Saks for like $30 a couple years ago!  Such a great deal.  They usually have really cute designer scarf options for less.  Make sure to check them out, especially during the huge holiday sales.
My pretty Seychelles!  I got them at Last Call by Neiman Marcus a couple months ago.  They were originally $160-ish, but I bought them for $35. Woot woot!
Skirt:  c/o OASAP ($28.9)

The LBD: Skater Edition

For today's post, I've featured a work-friendly LBD courtesy of Others Follow.  I'm really loving the silhouette.  Plus the length is perfect for work.  I spruced the look up with funky tights, but kept it conservative with a fitted blazer and ankle booties.
Blazer:  Hugo Boss
Dress:  c/o Others Follow
Bag:  Prada - gifted
Necklace:  Off Saks Fifth - old
Tights:  Apt. 9 via Kohl's
Shoes:  c/o Deb ($18.45)

The Asymmetrical Skirt

For today's post, I've featured a slew of goodies courtesy of Charlotte Russe, Deb, and Chicwish.
I'm obsessed with my new faux-leather skirt from Chicwish.  I really like the asymmetrical cut and zipper detailing. To be honest, I can't get over how good the quality is.  It's way better than any faux-leather piece I've come across at Forever 21.  I seriously recommend buying this skirt! SUPER cute.
A closer look at my new jacket from Charlotte Russe.  This piece fits me like a glove and it's SUPER warm. If you're into the military trend like I am, this jacket is a MUST!  I've provided a link below, so don't forget to scroll down...

I Sweat Glitter

Ermergerd, SEQUINS!  Yeah, totally obsessed with my new sparkly crop top from Deb. Talk about versatility - you can dress this baby up or down. Although this top is super cute, it's a litttttle itchy.  I don't know why?  Maybe I just have sensitive skin.  Whatever. Just wanted to give you guys a heads up!
Remember this jacket?  I featured it back in 2012.  If you want to see how I wore it then, clicky HERE...
I took a couple of outfit shots sans coat for ya'll. I'm not gonna lie it was pretty freakin' cold outside - and by "pretty freakin' cold", I mean weather for polar bears, ha.  Anywho, that's how much I love you guys.
A close-up of my fierce necklace from Jurate.   I still can't get over how unique this piece is. Wanna see how I styled this baby previously?  Clicky HERE.  You know you want to!
